Well what a year 2007 was. I have to tell you I have not enjoyed the last few days of 2007 and the first day of 2008 because of strep throat... & I have to say the shot I got in the butt on Sunday because of it, wasn't one of my more memorable moments in 2007. But there are some things that I have seen God do in this past year. I have had the pleasure of watching God change people's lives...seen people make healthier choices and changes, witnessed relationships grow, & have watched God work on people's hearts in big ways. Probably one of the biggest highlights was my time at Lakeside, OH this summer as I finally got the Ordination thing out of the way. That is one of the moments I will never forget and on the days I actually wear a robe and stole none of us will either. I have to say the support I have received from Old Fort Church has been another highlight this year. My sense is people are for me and my family...people go out of their way to make sure we are cared for and loved. I also sense that people have been focusing on the positives of my leadership and allowing me in grace to grow in my weaknesses. I feel God has grown me so much this year as I have constantly had to adjust my leadership style. It just reminds me that all of us need to grow and change as the years go by. God has done so many other good things like my families vacation to Gatlinburg, TN, our Facing the Giants & Money Matters sermon series, watching my kids grow a year older, coaching my kids teams, another year of great marriage with Erin...just to name a few things.
What have been your highlights? What are you thankful for? How has God done a work in you in 2007? Maybe the bigger question is how will you posture yourself to allow God to do a new work in your life in 2008. As I mentioned earlier we all need to change as we grow closer to God and to one another. Instead of making new years resolutions that never stick...how about asking God for forgiveness in your life and to commit to the new thing He wants to do in you. We never get the years back that quickly move by us. How will 2008 be a significant year for you. Better yet how will God leave His mark through you as you have just one 2008 to make a lasting impact on others. Don't let it go by without making a difference & let's have even a better year in 2008 than we did in 2007. Blessings, Your Dreaming Pastor
